POLYFIN AG is proud to supply their plastic waterproofing membranes to a big project in Istanbul, Turkey. The Project is called Istanbul Harbiye Congress Valley Project. The owner of the Project is Istanbul Municipality. A joint venture of Sembol Construction Company and TACA Construction Company have started the Project in 14 February 2008 and the Project is scheduled to finish by 8 May 2009 as the Grand opening will be done with the International IMF Meeting in May 2009 . The total cost of the Project is 207 million Turkish Lira ( with the present currency of 1 Euro = 1.90 TL ) which is approx. 110 million Euros.
The purpose of the Project is to destroy the old existing theatre which belonged to the Istanbul Municipality which was located in a valuable environment neighbouring Lutfi Kirdar Congress Center, Hilton Convention Center, Harbiye Military Facility and Cemil Topuzlu Theatre. The new Project consists of a congress center, a multi purpose theater, under pass tunnel and recreational areas. The total construction area will be approximately 90.000 m2 and there will be 6 storeys below ground level. When finished this will be the major congress center in Turkey for especially the international meetings.
In the waterproofing applications of the under pass tunnel with the foundation and wall waterproofing of the Congress Center, the material used is O.C.-Plan® 1020 ( 2.0 mm ) ECB membrane. The material to be used in the roof applications is Polyfin® 3020 light-grey ( 2.0 mm ) FPO membrane. Both materials are produced by POLYFIN AG. The distributor company of POLYFIN AG in Turkey is BMA Sanayi Urunleri Ticaret A.S. which is supplying the materials for this project and the applications are done by the certified application agents of BMA .
The total membrane quantity to be used will be approximately 80.000 m2.
